Rosematta Rice Ganji
Yesterday was my Birthday. I have never really ‘celebrated’ my Birthday. Earlier my husband and I would usually make sure we travel on our Birthdays but after the arrival of our darling daughter we haven’t really traveled much. So birthday is like any other day for us.
This year it hasn’t really been a happy day at all. My daughter is down with a severe food poisoning. I was up with her all night long and she is still feeling very week and tired. Nothing really is worse than seeing your baby ill. This is when every parent wishes they could take the illness and pain from their children. I too would rather suffer myself than see her go through pain.
My daughter right now needs food that is easy on her tummy, something that will hydrate her, nourish her and sooth her. It should also be easy to digest. In our home we consider ‘Ganji’ to be all of the above and more. Ganji is nothing but Rosematta Rice (Par-Boiled Red Rice) boiled with a lot of water. Its eaten with a pinch of salt like rice porridge. It’s hot, soupy and hearty.
A bowl of Rosematta Ganji is comfort food. Food that actually heals…
Here’s my bowl of rice for Black & White Wednesday, hosted by Susan behind the blog ‘Well Seasoned Cook’

Belated Happy Birthday Chinmayie. As a kid I always diliked ganji. The though of not eating rice and rasam was enough for me to dislike any food that was given to me while I am sick. But now I would totally love a bowl of hot ganji! Hope you dear daughter gets well soon. The photo as always is very good.

Beautiful click of one of my comfort foods. a dollop of ghee, little salt and tender mango pickle is all I crave for most of the times.
