Creamy Wholewheat Pasta with Broccoli

{Due to a recent virus attack I lost a whole bunch of recipe on my blog. I am slowly working on posting them back one by one. I am going to start with the recipes I am getting most requests for. If you remember/want to try one of my earlier recipes which is now not in this blog please write to be at and i’ll try to post it as soon as possible. I am basically just going to re-post the recipe as it was. So some of the content might not be so relevant today but my intention is to get them all back  and I  have over 80 posts to re-blog. Thank you! }

Creamy Vegan Wholewheat Pasta with Broccoli

Hope you are all having a great week. I am here today to share a quick recipe with you all. I made this for lunch today and I knew I had to share it on my blog. It’s simple, wholesome, nutritious and takes less than 15 minutes to put together, exactly the kind you all are looking for on a weekday!

This recipes is specially for all the people who have made my Spicy Tahini. If you made the quantity I had mentioned in the recipe, and made the salad dressing after that, you will still have some more Tahini left over. Where you wondering how to use it all up? Here’s the recipe for you!!

Creamy Wholewheat Pasta

The creamy sauce on top of the pasta and broccoli here is actually made out of Tahini! Combined with thick coconut milk/coconut cream, Tahini makes a wonderful creamy sauce. You can also use the regular store bought Tahini also of course, but my Home made Spicy Tahini only made it more flavorful with mild heat from the black pepper and red chili and aroma of cumin and garlic.

If you are using regular Tahini you can spice up the sauce with a little bit of Garlic powder, ground cumin, paprika and some freshly ground black pepper.

Creamy Wholewheat Pasta

I have used whole wheat pasta for some added nutrition but use any pasta of your choice. Broccoli is what I had but any other crunchy vegetable of your choice will be great here. Use more than one vegetable for more colour.

So here’s another fabulous recipe for a very versatile Tahini!  One more reason to make your own and store it! A perfect weekday meal for life’s busy evenings!

Creamy Vegan Wholewheat Pasta with Broccoli

  • 1 cup whole wheat pasta
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 tsp olive oil (optional)
  • salt

  • 1 tbsp Spicy Tahini or 1 tbsp regular Tahini with a pinch each of garlic powder, cumin powder, paprika and back pepper
  • 1/4 cup thick coconut cream
  • 1-2 tbsp water (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

While the pasta is boiling, quickly stir fry the broccoli in olive oil with a pinch of salt. You can even blanch the broccoli if you like. In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients for the sauce and stir well to make a thick creamy sauce.

When the pasta is done, place it in the serving bowl. Add the broccoli and pour the sauce all over it. Serve hot or cold.
