Green Tomato, Star Fruit and Avocado Salad

{Due to a recent virus attack I lost a whole bunch of recipe on my blog. I am slowly working on posting them back one by one. I am going to start with the recipes I am getting most requests for. If you remember/want to try one of my earlier recipes which is now not in this blog please write to be at and i’ll try to post it as soon as possible. I am basically just going to re-post the recipe as it was. So some of the content might not be so relevant today but my intention is to get them all back  and I  have over 80 posts to re-blog. Thank you! }

Green Tomato, Star Fruit and Avocado Salad

I love surprises especially when they come in the form on vegetables! This week it was these gorgeous tiny little green tomatoes. Though I wasn’t planning to blog for the last few days when I saw these green tomatoes I just couldn’t hold back… Since I am trying not to spend too much time blogging it’s going to a very quick post. I tried using Green tomatoes in 2 ways. I am sharing my first recipe today and the second recipe will follow soon.

When I have super fresh fruits and veggies on hand, the first thing that comes to my mind is a salad. For a good salad, quality ingredients make all the difference. I had some gorgeous star fruits which were now ripe and sweet. I also had some avocados which are great in salads.  How can I not be tempted to not make a salad?

Salad dressing recipe

Crisp tangy tomatoes were balanced really well with creamy avocado and sweet juicy star fruits to make a stunningly beautiful and tasty salad. Topped with a light dressing and nutty sesame seeds, I loved the way it came together. I don’t know how many of you have access to all the ingredients used in this salad but if you do please try this out.

Can you guess what my next green tomato recipe would be??

Green Tomato, Star Fruit and Avocado Salad

Green tomatoes are really wonderful in salads. Try  to balance it’s tanginess with some sweetness (like fruits).

Green apples can be a good substitute to star fruits though it’ll not taste similar.

Experiment with other ingredients but make sure they are always fresh.

Not really a recipe but here’s who I put it together:

Thinly sliced green tomatoes, thinly sliced star fruits and thin long slices of avocados are placed in a serving plate. Equal parts of sesame oil, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup) and rice wine vinegar are stirred well until it emulsifies. To serve just drizzle a tiny bit of the dressing over the salad, sprinkle some sesame seeds and garnish with a few torn cilantro leaves.

Serve immediately.
