Tangy Spicy Mango Cold Soup to Tickle Your Taste Buds!

Mango Cold Soup

I have one more mango recipe for you all!  By now you all know how much I love mangoes!! This time for a change I am not making anything sweet! I am making a spicy cold soup/drink with sour green mangoes.

This drink is called ‘AppeHuli’ and is from Northern Karnataka of South India. Traditionally it’s served as an appetizer before the main course. This soup is believed to be great for digestion and is really soothing for your tummy in summer!

I have tweaked the traditional recipe a little and made it simpler. My recipe doesn’t have a long list of ingredients involved and it easier to make. I also made it raw without cooking the mango which heightens the tartness of green mangoes.

This soup definitely has a distinct flavor. It surely is spicy. I have used 2 long green chilies, if you can’t handle so much heat cut it down to just one chili. The Mango I used was beginning to ripen which is why the colour is not green but it was still tangy enough.

Try this refreshing green mango soup and its sure going to tickle your taste buds.

  • 1 cup diced green mangoes
  • 2 green chilies
  • 5-6 small or 2-3 big garlic pods.

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend it into a fine paste.  Add enough water to get it to a soup consistency. It has to be watery like a clear soup. Add salt according to taste.

Fry finely chopped garlic till golden brown and add it to the soup before serving.
